Man charged in Palmerton stabbing
A Palmerton man has been charged with stabbing a woman Sunday afternoon in the borough.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Kevin Buck of the Palmerton Borough Police Department in the case against Trevor Michael Strohl, 39:
Buck responded to the scene at 4:40 p.m. at 901 Princeton Ave. He spoke with officer Trevor Flexer who advised he was dispatched to an apartment in the complex for a report of a woman who had been assaulted.
Flexer located the victim who had been knocking on a neighbor’s door saying she was assaulted by Strohl, 39.
Flexer said she had an open head wound and had been slipping in and out of consciousness.
She had been stabbed with a sharp object, possibly a letter opener or a claw hammer type instrument.
The woman was treated by responding EMTs and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital Carbon Campus.
While there, the victim identified Strohl as the person who had assaulted her and that she and Strohl have been friends and she occasionally allows him to sleep at her apartment and that she felt bad for him.
The woman said that Strohl was at the apartment on Sunday breaking down scrap and was yelling about calling the cops.
She said that Strohl jumped on top of her with his arm around her neck and grabbed her phone.
The woman said she was able to get to the hallway and Strohl went after her, striking her repeatedly.
The woman said she was able to bite Strohl in the arm, and Strohl hitting her in the head.
Strohl faces charges on two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault, and one count of reckless endangerment.
Strohl is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 straight bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Sept. 20 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
