State police at Stroudsburg said a tree fell on top of a 2014 Kia Forte during a tornado watch earlier this month in Ross Township.
It happened at 9:08 p.m. Aug. 7, during heavy rain and severe wind and thunderstorm conditions.
Police said Simon K. Vovra, 37, of Bethlehem, was driving the vehicle south on Route 33 when the tree fell and hit the hood of his vehicle over the front axle. Police said the tree then his the front windshield before it rolled over the roof and caused damage to the trunk of the car.
The tree also damaged a guide rail and temporarily blocked the right lane of Route 33 until Pennsylvania Department of Transportation personnel cut it up and removed it.
Police said emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene to evaluate Vovra and three other occupants of the vehicle, including Alyssa N. Vovra, 32, a one-year-old boy and another boy not yet one, all from Zieglerville. They said Alyssa Vovra had “possible injuries” while Simon Vovka and the two boys were not hurt.
The Forte had to be towed from the scene. Personnel from the West End Ambulance Service responded to evaluate the occupants of the vehicle, although no one required transport.
