Pleasant Valley hires special education director
The Pleasant Valley School Board approved hiring a new special education supervisor.
Raberta Hans will joining the Special Education Department as a supervisor, and will have a salary of $84,600.
Earlier this month, Michael McMullen, who had been a Special Education supervisor since December 2022, resigned. He had been reassigned at the June 29 meeting to middle school as an emotional support teacher with a salary of $72,857.
The school board also accepted the resignation of Janis Gaglione. She was a family and consumer sciences teacher at the middle school.
Gaglione was hired for that position in November 2022.
Additional changes to employments and volunteers include:
• Athletic volunteers - Benjamin Conklin and Bob VanDerheyden, football;
• Change to current assignment - MaryAnn Peleschak, paraprofessional, from PVES to PVMS;
• Hiring of Support Staff - Marcie Holderman, food service employee, PVIS, $12.82 per hour; and Nikki Haden-Coar, monitor, PVES, $11.53 per hour;
• Hiring of security staff - Francesco Franzese and Kristia Weiss, full-time security officers, $16.30 per hour;
• Supplemental contracts: athletic non-coaching - Fall/Winter/Spring subs: Bob VanDerheyden, Mike Wassuta, Mike Walters, Arianna Weaver; Girls Volleyball varsity line judges: Arianna Weaver and Kelsey Tompkins and Michelle Piontkowski; Boys Soccer: Michelle Piontkowski, varsity and junior varsity scoreboard, and;
• Supplemental contracts: nonathletic - Michelle Piontkowski, Scholastic Scrimmage adviser; Daisy Genovese, Senior Class adviser; Holli Freeman, Dance Club adviser; Dan Mulligan, Drama and Musical director; Marcie Mulligan and Donna Morris, Drama and Musical assistant directors; Maricatherine Garr, Envirothon adviser; Denise Hopely, FBLA adviser; Donna Morris and Craig Morris, FBLA assistant advisers; Craig Morris, stage manager; Holli Freeman, stage manager assistant; James DeVivo, Jazz Band; Elaine Cucci and Suzanne Hunsicker, SADD advisers.
