Coal mining programs in Nesquehoning

Musician Dave Matsinko and historian Vince Hydro will present two musical and visual presentations on coal mining at the Nesquehoning Historical Society, 157 West Railroad Street.

The first is at 6 p.m. Monday and the second at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2.

Parking is available in the large lot next to the museum.

Event free of charge, although donations to the Historical Society are welcome.

Matsinko’s performance will include musical selections reflecting the coal mining heritage of the local area, played on various acoustic instruments. Hydro will display images of local coal mining including earliest coal discoveries, types of coal mines, miners, slatepickers and their families.
