Train engineer Shane Frederickson of Tamaqua prepares to add fluid to the 2102 steam engine Sunday afternoon in Jim Thorpe. Frederickson, a third generation railroader, was piloting the steam engine on his 55th birthday. Hundreds rode the summer excursion from Reading Outer Station, passing through Leesport, Port Clinton, Tamaqua and Nesquehoning. Riders also experienced views from Hometown High Bridge and trips through the Tamaqua Tunnel. Ticket prices range from $99 to $299. The final Reading and Northern Ramble of 2023 will be Sept. 2.
