Mold remediation in Palmerton Area High School’s auditorium was completed last week, Superintendent Dr. Jodi Frankelli said during Tuesday night’s board meeting.
The surface mold was primarily located on the cushioned seat fabric, folding chairs, and the piano cover fabric.
ACM Associates of Allentown completed the work.
“They did air quality testing last Friday and all of the results were good,” Frankelli said. “Three samples were taken and everything was within normal limits and turned out just as we had hoped.”
The remediation and air testing cost around $8,500.
Frankelli said the district plans to take steps such as running the air conditioning in the auditorium at night, keeping doors open when possible for better air flow and addressing the internal humidity in the room.
