A Saylorsburg man died in a one-vehicle crash at 3:20 a.m. Monday on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said Wilhelm W. Nebel, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe County Deputy Coroner Robert Davenport.

Police said he was the operator of a 2012 Fiat that was northbound in the area of the four-lane Route 209 and was traveling at a high rate of speed when the car came to a slight right-hand turn in the highway. Police said the vehicle stayed straight and hit a Metropolitan-Edison utility pole.

Police said Nebel was ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side window.

The car, which came to rest facing west, was towed from the scene.
