The Carbon County Telecommunications Commission voted unanimously last night to discontinue its relationship with the Coaldale Fire Department and ambulance corps as of Dec. 31, 1991, a move that was prompted by Coaldale Borough Council’s “demand” that the commission change the town’s call numbers for dispatching purposes.

The problem between the commission and Coaldale involves the changing of the town’s call numbers; the dispatching board wants Coaldale to change its numbers to a “2700 series,” while Coaldale wants the numbers to be 57 ad 58 for police, units 270-279 for the fire company and 908 and 909 for the ambulance.

Commission member Al Klitsch said “there is nothing we can do to please them (Coaldale officials).”
