The Spruce Street railroad crossing in Tamaqua will be closed to traffic the week of Aug. 14.

The Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad will be reconstructing the railroad crossing starting Monday at 7 a.m.

The railroad company will be raising the height of the rails and resurfacing the approaches to the crossing. The work will take about 5 days to complete.

Spruce Street between Center and South Railroad streets will be closed to through traffic all week. Drivers traveling in the vicinity of the crossing should expect delays and allow for additional travel time. Normal traffic patterns will be restored as soon as possible after the repairs are completed.
