A container dropped off by a resident Sunday at the Franklin Township Police Department contained bone items that were ultimately determined to be from a whitetail deer.
Township police said that someone delivered a container to officers that contained clothing, household refuse, and what the person believed to be human bones.
The items were found Saturday in a wooded area of the township that has long been used for legal and illegal dumping of refuse.
Police investaged with assistance from the Lehighton Borough Police Department and the Office of the District Attorney of Carbon County and County Detectives.
After a thorough search and processing of the recovery area, no evidence was located, police said.
No criminal charges will be brought.
