The grand opening of the astronomy observatory in Polk Township, created by Boy Scout Claudio T. Stabile and helpers, is set for 4 p.m., Aug. 18, beginning with a viewing of the sun with solar telescopes and later switching to nighttime sky viewing.

The rain date is Aug. 19.
