Lansford flips the switch on new website
Lansford Borough’s new website went live this week, less than two months after securing a new designer.
The new website features a new color scheme, fonts and borough logo complete with a coal mining rail car, and mirrors information contained on the previous website.
The borough began looking for website designers after experiencing problems posting the council agendas earlier this year. Agendas are now required to be posted online 24 hours in advance of a meeting, if an agency has a website.
The borough will also be able to add announcements regarding snow removal, emergency parking for snow removal, delayed sanitation because of holidays, or borough office closures, said Wendy Butrie, borough secretary.
People will also be able to pay bills online by clicking on the $Bill Pay button near the top of the home page, and again at the bottom of the home page.
People can also click on the email icon and address to send email, or click on the phone icon and number to call the borough office, if using a smartphone to access the website.
Council President Bruce Markovich said he’s OK with the design of the new site, but might like to seek a search feature, allowing people to search for the information they are looking for.
The way the website is set up, people must click on different categories or tabs to find information, he said.
Council must now adopt a policy regarding what information is posted on the website, Markovich said.
The website design was done by CourseVector, of Camp Hill, for $1,500, plus another $617 a year to maintain and update the site. The borough could have chosen a non-maintained option, but would have had to pay for $221 training and any additional service or assistance would have been at $100 an hour.
Other proposals for the website startup and yearly fee ranged over $4,000. The borough had two other proposals from Civic Plus and Revize.
