Police have charged a Bethlehem man who said he wanted to set off a homemade explosive in the area of Musikfest.
Bethlehem Police said Monday that Robert L. Bowen Jr., 52, has been charged with weapons of mass destruction, prohibited offensive weapons, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After police received a tip about Bowen making threats, they searched his residence and found small explosive devices, material for the manufacture of devices, an improvised gun and controlled substances.
Bowen remains in custody, with bail set at $500,000. Police said there is no threat to the public.
The criminal complaint is sealed by court order and will be released at a later date.
The Bethlehem Police Department encourages people to report suspicious behavior by calling 9-1-1.
