State police took a man into custody after more than four-hour standoff Monday at a home in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County.

Officers from Lehigh County Sheriffs Department went to the home in the 2500 block of Waynesborough Court at approximately 10:15 a.m. to serve a warrant on a 54-year-old man.

Upon attempting to serve the warrant, the man threatened the sheriffs officers and they left the residence.

State police from Fogelsville responded and formed a perimeter around the house, then troopers from the Special Emergency Response Team arrived and took command.

Through negotiations the man gave himself up at 2:35 p.m. and was taken into custody where he was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest by Macungie Ambulance personnel for evaluation.

During the incident, Sauerkraut Lane was closed at Millhouse Road and Saddlebrook Road.

There were no injuries to law enforcement.

The Lower Macungie Township Fire Department assisted at the scene with traffic control.
