District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe performs the swearing in ceremony for newly elected Lehighton Mayor, Thomas Mase, while Anne Marie Mase holds the Bible. Lewis told Mase, who was formerly the chief of police in Jim Thorpe, that this was another first in their long history. Lewis said that Mase was the first Jim Thorpe police chief when he took the bench as District Judge, Mase was the first officer to appear at a hearing in front of him, and he was the first Lehighton Mayor that he swore into office.
