Pittsburgh mom jailed on charges she harmed baby in stroller

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Pittsburgh woman has been jailed on charges she endangered her baby while pushing it around roughly with a stroller at a mass-transit train station downtown.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 30-year-old Kari Vallance, who faces a preliminary hearing March 26 on child endangerment, aggravated assault and other charges.

Witnesses tell police the woman rammed the stroller into a revolving door causing the baby to fall out about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. When witnesses tried to intervene, the woman ran away and the baby fell out of the stroller again and was almost hit by a passing vehicle in the street.

Vallance, who has also been charged with public drunkenness, reportedly told witnesses, "I'm not a bad mother."

The baby was treated at a hospital where its condition wasn't immediately released.
