Two charged with felony theft

Mahoning Township Police have arrested two men for felony theft charges after being caught with $1,812 in merchandise.

On Feb. 5 at 3:55 p.m. Mahoning Township Police received information from South Whitehall Township Police.South Whitehall had found items inside a vehicle occupied by two people they arrested. The items were identified as merchandise that had been stolen from the Mahoning Township Walmart by the same two people on Feb. 4. As a result of the information charges were filed and warrants issued for Glen Taormina, 28, of Easton, and Edward Thierer III, 47, of Northampton.They have both been charged with: retail theft, criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft, and receive retail theft.On Feb. 26, Taormina was placed in Northampton County Prison after he was stopped by Colonial Regional Police. Bail was set at $2,000 and he remains in Northampton County Prison. A hearing has been set for April 8.On March 12, Thierer was arraigned by MDJ Reiley in Schuylkill County while attending another hearing. He was released on bail. A preliminary hearing is pending.
