STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Firefighters had to be called to help a 5-year-old Pennsylvania boy out of a tree after he climbed up 30 feet to see the inside of a squirrel nest.
Mercedes Jones tells WJAC-TV (http://bit.ly/1PHqEaQ) her son, Landon, climbed the pine tree in Orchard Park in State College on Monday afternoon and then got a little nervous about climbing back down.
Alpha Fire Chief Jeff Martin climbed up to keep the boy calm and told him, "I used to climb trees a lot when I was a kid."
As they waited for a ladder, Martin realized the boy just needed some encouragement to climb back down without one.
His mother says, "He's going to have a good time telling his dad this story tonight."
