New York woman was injured Thursday afternoon while driving along the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The incident occurred just after noon as she was traveling north about 3 miles north of the Mahoning interchange. She struck a deer, which penetrated her windshield. The woman was struck by flying glass
and treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics. This is a reminder to all motorists that deer are on the move right nowand drivers need to be alert for them crossing the road.
