A treasurer chalice, stolen from an unlocked cabinet at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Lehighton, has been returned.

The chalice was found in a box placed in rose bushes near Second and Iron streets in the borough.The sacred cup was especially important to the pastor of the church, the Rev. Philip Rodgers, because it was given to him 21 years ago by his nine brothers and sisters in honor of his ordination into the priesthood.Rodgers asked police to drop the investigation of the theft.
