The Carbon County Commissioners hired Eugene Butler of Scranton as a certified planner in the Office of Planning and Development.

The commissioners said the planner would eliminate the county's need to utilize a consultant in its regular comprehensive planning projects.A grant of $15,000 will be used to pay part of the annual salary of $176,120 for Butler, who was formerly employed as a planner and community development coordinator in the City of Scranton.
