Police charge man with theft, DUI

A retail theft incident has resulted in DUI charges for a Bethlehem man.

Paul Rentzheimer, 46, was stopped by loss prevention at Walmart as he left the store at 2:47 p.m. June 20 with $463 in merchandise that he did not purchase.The items included a computer, radar detector, and Axe spray.While being placed under arrest by Mahoning Township Police, Rentzheimer attempted to remove a knife from his pants pocket.The investigation showed Rentzheimer had driven to the store, and he exhibited signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance.A blood test showed the presence of amphetamine, and methamphetamine.He has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence and retail theft.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.
