A committee convened last week to work on the retirement dinner for Lt. General Rhett Hernandez. Committee members include Christopher Olivia, Richard Nothstein, Joe Federanich and Kathy Fallow.

Hernandez is a 1971 graduate of Palmerton High School. He and his wife, Pat, both grew up in this area. He went on to graduate from West Point Military Academy and served from 1976 through 2013 in various combat and noncombat assignments.His last position was as the commanding general of the newly formed U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.The dinner is set for Nov. 7 at the Blue Shamrock Golf Club in Palmerton. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with time for socializing.
