Northern Lehigh board candidates

Northern Lehigh School Board won't be taking on a new look this year.

That's because all five incumbents seeking re-election to their respective positions are running unopposed. The candidates are Robin Distler, Donna Kulp, Edward Hartman, Mathias Green and Gale Husack. All candidates cross-filed for four-year terms. The district includes the boroughs of Slatington and Walnutport, and Washington Township.Robin Distler: "I am currently seeking my second term as a member of the Northern Lehigh School Board. My wife, Natalie, and I reside in Washington Township. We have two adult children and three adorable granddaughters. My purpose to serve on the Northern Lehigh School Board is to help ensure our students receive quality education from our great teaching and administrative staff at the lowest cost to our taxpayers."Edward Hartman: "My background caused me to deal daily with people of all lifestyles, children and seniors, which proved to me how important education is for all ages. Northern Lehigh students are offered a quality education. My primary concerns are a drop in enrollment, and the lack of a fair method of funding our district. Harrisburg must respond with a budget and a new method of tax collection."Gale Husack: "I am a graduate and resident of the Northern Lehigh School District with children attending schools within our district. I hope to bring my leadership skills to the school board and provide a collaborating work environment to continue to create policies and goals that will affect the success of all of our children and keep our district accountable to maintaining a high standard of education."
