The Lehigh County communication center was innundated with calls this afternoon along the Blue Mountain by motorists and residents who were reporting a large brush fire on the mountain.

The callers were informed of the controlled burn atop the mountain in West Penn Township but they insist it is a separate incident. Fire companies dispatched to the scene verified the dense smoke is from the controlled burn.

High winds are blowing the smoke down over the southern face of the mountain onto the area of Mountain Road in Lynn and Washington townships.
