A tractor-trailer fire on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is tying up traffic at the turnpike's Pocono interchange.

Crews responded to a tractor trailer fire on the extension just south of the Pocono Interchange after 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The tractor trailer was in the southbound lanes of the highway.

Drivers in the area should expect delays.

According to dispatchers with the Pa. State Police, the road was open to one lane of traffic as of 4 p.m. Both lanes had been closed temporarily.

Fire police were also posted at the Pocono interchange of the Northeast Extension to direct traffic.

At 4:25 p.m., crews also responded to the southbound Northeast Extension in the area of the Lehigh Tunnel for a report of smoke.
