Circulation of a petition designed to effect annexation to Mauch Chunk borough was initiated at an enthusiastic meeting of Hackelbernie residents in the Episcopal Mission Chapel there last night.

A large number of property owners attended and affixed their signatures on the petitions after having formed the Hackelbernie Property Owners' Association to expedite the legal steps necessary to make this plan a reality.The Mauch Chunk Township village is isolated and far removed from its parent hub, Nesquehoning, and seeks greater advancement and advantages through a merger with Mauch Chunk.
