Following a brief hearing this morning, the Carbon County court approved a petition to reduce the number of members on the Weissport Borough Council. Judge Richard W. Webb approved the petition after hearing testimony from a current council member, Albert Lichty, who said that a reduction in the number of council members from seven to five would help the borough operate more effectively. Lichty said the borough has been experiencing for several years a problem in getting people to serve on council.
