Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting of all skill levels.

Concourse Club

The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, Palmerton. The program for this month is “Tai Chi” presented by Lehigh Valley Martial Arts. Tai Chi is a martial art and discipline that provides increased mobility with strong physical and mental health, healing your heart, mind and soul. Dress in comfortable clothes and practice with Master Crystal while she demonstrates the easy-to-learn art of tai chi.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday at Parryville Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St. Platter choices include eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast or SOS. Choices of meat are ham, sausage, scrapple or bacon. Also included are home fries, juice and coffee. Large and small platters. Takeout and phone orders available. Call 610-852-2350.

First UCC

First United Church of Christ, 457 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, will hold worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. They will honor “Super Bowl of Caring” by collecting soups, crackers, cash and other food items. All donations will be forwarded to CACPAC for those in our community who suffer food insecurity. Please help this cause and share with others.

Tax form assistance

Certified AARP TaxAide volunteers are available again this year to provide free tax form assistance to middle- and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. In our area the site will be the Palmerton Senior Center, 501 Delaware Ave., 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, starting Feb. 5 through April. Sign in as you arrive. First-come, first-served. All sites offer E-filing and direct deposit for any refunds.

To receive help filing the 2017 federal, state and local tax returns or your Pennsylvania property tax and rent rebate applications, taxpayers must bring copies of their 2016 tax returns plus all income information, real estate tax receipts, any deduction information, and health care enrollment information pertaining to 2017. Taxpayers must also bring photo ID and Social Security cards. If you want refunds direct deposited, then bring your blank check to ensure correct account numbers.

Senior Center

The Palmerton Senior Center, 501 Delaware Ave. (Ambulance Building), serves lunch daily at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. For lunch reservations, call the day before by 9:30 a.m.

Activities include bingo, pinochle and penny games. For information or to reserve lunch, call 610-826-4505.

Blue Mountain Fiber Guild

The Blue Mountain Fiber Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. The group is exploring all things related to fiber arts such as spinning, weaving, etc. Come see what it is about.
