State police at Frackville are investigating a theft at a Schuylkill County cemetery during the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Troopers said a tool shed at Saint Canicus cemetery, located along the Morea Road in Mahanoy Township, was forced open and grass trimmers used to care for grave sites were removed. This cemetery is the final resting place for many military veterans, troopers noted. Items taken included four two-stroke Club Cadet trimmers and one four-stroke Cub Cadet trimmer. The theft occurred sometime between Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call trooper Thomas Powell at 570-874-5300.
