State police have identified the male killed in a Saturday morning crash on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.
Authorities won't be releasing his name however, because he was only 17 years old. A press release sent Sunday afternoon did not indicate the male's hometown.Trooper George Kerrick, of the Fern Ridge barracks, said a 2008 Hyundia Tiburon driven by Joseph Hanrahan of Shamokin Dam veered into the right lane of Interstate 80 while headed west and went down an embankment just after 9:45 a.m.The vehicle then flipped and hit a tree on the passenger side.The only passenger was killed on impact, police said.Both Hanrahan and the passenger were wearing seat belts.Hanrahan was transported to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment.Police said an investigation is ongoing.
