PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Pennsylvania's attorney general goes on trial Monday in a perjury and obstruction case that follows years of petty feuds, a pornographic email scandal and political infighting.
Kathleen Kane remains on the job even though she lost her law license over the felony arrest. She's accused of leaking secret grand jury material to a newspaper to embarrass enemies and then lying about it under oath.Kane says she's the victim of an "old boys network" that's angry she exposed hundreds of offensive or pornographic emails found on state computer servers. Her crusade cost two Supreme Court justices and others their jobs. But the trial judge says the defense can't bring it up at trial.Kane was the first woman and first Democrat elected attorney general in Pennsylvania. She isn't seeking re-election.
