A Jim Thorpe man who fired shots from his residence and later kicked a borough police officer faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and two counts of reckless endangerment.
Police were called to the Old Piney Road home of Thomas Lienhard Jr. just before 10:30 p.m. on August 4 for a report of gunshots that nearly struck another residence and homeowner.After determining Lienhard, 63, fired the shots, police escorted him out of his home.During the arrest, Lienhard "kicked an officer in the chest and made several other attempts to assault him."He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Eric Schrantz, who set bail at $150,000 cash.Lienhard is in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, awaiting an August 24 preliminary hearing.
