Lehighton's municipal recycling program officially goes into effect today. Borough councilman Donald Rehrig, who chaired the committee setting up the recycling program, said residents should use the plastic recycling cans that were distributed by the borough.
Placed in the can should be plastic bottles (soda, milk, detergent), glass containers such as jars and bottles, and cans made of tin or metal (soda cans, fruit juice cans, coffee cans).Newspapers should be either tied in bundles or placed in bags.Glossy inserts should be pulled from the papers and placed in the regular, non-recyclable garbage.
