Class of 1948

The Palmerton High School Class of 1948 will continue to celebrate their 70 years since graduation with their quarterly get-together at Bert’s Steakhouse in Palmerton at noon on July 19.

No reservations are needed. All are welcome. Bring your spouse, companion or caregiver.

Two blood drives

There are two area blood drives planned for the Palmerton Area by Miller-Keystone Blood Center. The first will be held at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville). The drive will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The second, a Palmerton Community Blood Drive, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. July 18 at the West End Fire Company No. 2, Princeton Ave., Palmerton.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Buffet items include eggs to order, potatoes, ham, bacon, sausage, hash, cereal, juice, coffee, plus more.

Wing, taco and clam specials are every Wednesday night from 5 to 8 p.m. Dinners are served every Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Memorial marker

The United Veterans Organization of Palmerton, made up of American Legion Post 269 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7134, are honored to announce that an engraved memorial marking the area where The Moving Wall stood in July 2016 will be dedicated at 7 p.m. July 21 in the Palmerton Borough Park by the Veterans Memorial. Rain date is at 7 p.m. July 28.

Redneck party

A Redneck Party will be held at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton, from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Larski DJ Entertainment will be there from 2 to 6 p.m. Jesse Wade will perform from 7-10 p.m. This is a public event and everyone is welcome.

Car show

The Pacemakers Association will be at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club for a Car Show from 4 to 8 p.m. July 20. If you have a car you would like to show off, bring it over. All are welcome. There will be a DJ. The kitchen is open to the public on Friday nights.

Gaming Grotto

The Gaming Grotto will be at the Fire Escape Coffeehouse, 312 Delaware Ave., from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday. This is a great family friendly event. Come out and enjoy the food, the people and play some games. They have board games, video games and even an RPG group.

Park concert

The Sunday evening in the Palmerton Borough Park Concert on July 15 will be by “Sunshine Symphony” (’80s oldies).

This concert is sponsored by Bill George, George’s Plumbing & Heating. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. in the park bandstand. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy an evening of music.

In case of bad weather, the concerts will be canceled with no rain date. No alcohol or smoking is permitted in the park.
