A Long Pond resident was shot in the leg Wednesday afternoon during a home invasion.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded to a call at 12:19 p.m. on Glade Drive, and found a 23-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the legs. A 26-year-old female house mate was also present.Witness statements described two black men, dressed in black hooded sweatshirts and black sweatpants as the assailants. The two men entered the home through an unlocked front door and ordered the man to get on the floor. When he did not comply, he was shot in the legs. The suspects rummaged through the home, and then ran towards interstate 80, which borders the property.The PMRPD searched the area with K9 units, along with the assistance of the state police aviation unit. The victim was flown to a local hospital.Police are asking residents to remain vigilant and lock their doors. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the department at 570-895-2400.
