Carbon County officials will renew a contract with a local health system to provide medical coverage at the prison in Nesquehoning.

On Thursday, the county commissioners, on the recommendation of the county prison board, entered into the medical contract with Blue Mountain Health System.The two-year contract provides doctor and psychiatrist coverage for the prison. It goes into effect on Oct. 1 at a cost of $50,200.08 annually.The board said that there are no changes on this contract from the previous agreement.Blue Mountain Health System was hired to provide medical coverage at the facility in October 2014.— Amy Miller
