The Schuylkill County Commissioners have approved contracts for maintenance at the county courthouse.

The commissioners last week approved a contract with S.L. Smith Company to clean the windows at the courthouse three times per year, at a cost of $3,200 per cleaning. The total cost of the two-year contract is $19,200.The commissioners also approved a contract with Reading Elevator Co. to maintain the elevators at the courthouse.The three-year contract is expected to cost $21,924.The commissioners are also seeking bids for cleaning at the courthouse complex. Bids should be submitted to the county controller’s office by Oct. 24. The bids will be opened at the commissioners’ work session meeting on Nov. 2.The commissioners also approved a contribution which makes way to add another 171 acres to its agricultural conservation easement.The commissioners contributed $53,000 for their share of the sale price. The preserved property is in Union Township, belonging to Glenn Hetherington.
