First street (SR209) in Lehighton was closed due to an early morning accident which brought down a utility pole and wires across the busy roadway. The crash occurred at 4:30 a.m. Saturday when a 46 year old woman was driving south and for some unknown reason lost control of her car swerving to the right impacting with and snapping of a utility pole owned by Verizon. The woman was self extricated from the wreckage. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to the Lehighton hospital. Lehighton fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. Lehighton police are investigating the incident.
