Alcohol involved in Monroe crash

State police at Fern Ridge said alcohol was involved in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, along SR715 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Cody J. Matlock, 19, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 1997 Ford F250 truck northbound and while negotiating a left hand curve he lost control. The truck went off the road and struck a tree with the front end. Upon impact the truck started to turn in a clockwise direction and the driver's side struck a utility pole snapping it in half.This impact caused the truck to continue to turn in a clockwise direction and overturn onto its roof. The truck came to rest on its roof.Matlock and his passenger, Chase W. Matlock, 13, of Saylorsburg, were able to get out of the vehicle on their own. Troopers said the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving the vheicle and the passenger also had consumed alcohol. Both were transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. The driver sustained a minor injury, troopers added.Charges will be filed against both the driver and passenger, troopers said.
