A 15-year-old Jim Thorpe girl admitted to state police at the Fern Ridge barracks that she made up false allegations against her mother after police investigated a Childline referral they received from the Carbon County Office of Children and Youth Services.

Police said they were summoned at 2:15 p.m. July 19 to a property on Delaware Drive in Penn Forest Township.

They said the allegation was that the mother only feeds the girl a slice of cheese, threatens to beat her and takes clothes away from her.

But police said the girl told them she made up the allegations in an attempt to minimize the severity of trouble she gets in from getting kicked out of summer camp.
