Local Roundup: Results from July 27

In a rain-shortened Panther Valley Little League Tournament All-Star game on Thursday, the West 11-12-year-old squad registered a 9-6 victory over the East.

The West team was comprised of players from Tamaqua and Towamensing, while the East featured Jim Thorpe, Franklin Township and Anthracite players.

Mason Evans, Ryder Holmberg and Cain Conner - all from Tamaqua - each collected a hit, scored a run and added an RBI for the winners, who took the lead for good with a six-run second inning.

Xavier Ahner of Towamensing finished with a hit and two runs for the West team, while T.J. Hartman of Tamaqua chipped in with a hit and a run. Towamensing’s Steele Zalik contributed a run and an RBI.

Robbie George (Towamensing) pitched three innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out two.

For the East team, which cut a 9-3 deficit in half with three runs in the fourth before rain halted play, Blake Skrimcovsky of Jim Thorpe had a hit, a run and an RBI.

Marshall Domsky and Bryce McElmoyle, also Thorpe players, both ended with a hit and a run, as did Franklin Township’s Korbin Ahner.

Ahner also pitched well in defeat, tossing 2 2/3 innings in relief. He allowed just one hit and no earned runs while striking out five.
