The Tamaqua 10s defeated Anthracite on Friday to finish the Panther Valley Little League 9-10 schedule undefeated and claim the tournament’s championship.

Anthracite 10s-Tamaqua 10s

The Tamaqua 10s pulled away from Anthracite 10 on Friday to post a 16-6 victory and capture the Panther Valley Little League 9-10 tournament championship.

Grayson Smith had three hits, scored twice and knocked in two runs for the winners, who jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings.

Kroy Tirpak finished the contest with four RBIs, while Brady Bartczak scored three times and knocked in a pair of runs.

Tamaqua, which went undefeated at 6-0 in the tourney, also received a hit and two runs from both Aiden Barrett and Jakson Perez. Evan Shannon walked twice and scored three runs. Brayden Schultz chipped in with a hit, a run and an RBI.

Josh Setlock started and pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two.

For Anthracite, O. Demyanovich had a hit and three RBIs, while T. Ashmore added a hit and knocked in two runs.

BLUE MOUNTAIN LEAGUE

Roseto-Berlinsville

Austin Mueller pitched a two-hitter on Friday to lead the Berlinsville Braves to a 6-1 Blue Mountain League victory over the Roseto Bandits.

Mueller allowed two walks and an unearned run in the first inning, while striking out six.

Palmerton graduate Cole Serfass had a double, stole two bases and knocked in a pair of runs for the winners, who broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run fifth.

Jim Thorpe grad Noah Snisky scored a run for Berlinsville, which also received a hit and an RBI from both Mueller and Owen Fischl. Rommel Perez added a triple and a run, with Kyle Sincavage contributing a double and a run scored.

The Braves are now 12-15, while Roseto dropped to 4-22-1.

PA STATE 8-10 SOFTBALL

Towamensing-Indiana

Indiana pulled away from Towamensing in the later innings Thursday to earn a 14-4 victory during the opening round of the Pennsylvania State 8-10 softball tournament.

The two teams were locked in a 1-1 tie until the winners took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning and then opened up the game with a six-run fifth.

Towamensing gained the early advantage with a run in the top of the first. Rylee Robertson walked and eventually scored.

Isabella Marques had a hit for Towamensing. She also pitched two innings, gave up a hit and three runs, and struck out two. Teammate Adalyn Gulla stole four bases in the contest.

Towamensing-North Pocono

North Pocono rolled to an 11-1 win over Towamensing Friday in the Pennsylvania State 8-10 softball tournament.

Kennedy Berry finished 3-for-3 for the winners, including a two-run homer in the first inning.

Serena Lesh earned the victory, allowing one run on four hits in five innings. She struck out 10.

Towamensing hurler Isabella Marques also fanned 10 in her three-and-a-third innings of work. The right-hander gave up five hits.

Adalyn Gula and Autumn Burger both had two hits to pace Towamesing.
