State Police Commissioner Paul J. Evanko recently promoted Richard S. Zenk of Lancaster County to captain and as the new commander of Troop H, Hazleton.

The troop includes barracks in Bloomsburg, Fern Ridge, Lehighton and Swiftwater.

Zenk, 49, succeeds Capt. Wesley R. Waugh, who was promoted to major and assigned to the Bureau of Research and Development in Harrisburg.

Zenk is a native of Pittsburgh who has been serving as commander of the Patrol Section of Troop J, Lancaster. He joined in the state police in 1970 and previously served in Greensburg, Washington, Findlay, Embreeville and Bethlehem.
