Local Roundup: Results from July 12

Jim Thorpe and the Tamaqua 12s both earned wins in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament on Wednesday.

LITTLE LEAGUE

PANTHER VY. TOURNAMENT

Franklin-Tamaqua 12s

The Tamaqua 12s rallied for a 4-3 win in seven innings over Franklin Township to stay unbeaten in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament.

Tamaqua trailed 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning before tying the game and eventually walking it off in the seventh. Ryder Holmberg had a home run and a double for Tamaqua.

Paxton Carter (2-for-2, two RBIs, run scored) also had a run scored, while Jaydon Rex doubled and drove in a run. Jaedon Vidzicki started and pitched five innings for Tamaqua (2-0), striking out 12 while allowing just one hit. Rex finished the game with two hitless innings in relief, striking out three.

Alex Kish had a hit for Franklin. Owen Moyer struck out eight in five-and-a-third innings.

Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua 11s

Jim Thorpe held off the Tamaqua 11s by a 9-6 score in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament.

Scrimcovsky (RBI, run scored) and Ben Remmel (two runs scored) each had a pair of hits for Jim Thorpe, which led 9-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Kade Levan doubled and scored twice, while Bryce McElmoyle added a hit, two RBIs and scored a run. Scrimcovsky started and struck out five in four-and-two-thirds innings.

Joey Vidzicki and Jaxon Faneck (run scored) each had two hits for Tamaqua, which pushed across four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Porter Wilson doubled with an RBI, and also scored a run.

BLUE MOUNTAIN LEAGUE

Berlinsville-Limeport

The Limeport Bulls scored eight unearned runs in the fourth inning to gain an 8-3 Blue Mountain League victory over the Berlinsville Braves.

Brian Ernst and Noah Adams both had two hits for Limeport, while Tyler Coleman added a double and an RBI. Ernst also registered the win, tossing five innings of three-hit ball.

Pleasant Valley graduate Brandon Ratti suffered the mound defeat for the Braves, pitching the first 3 1/3 innings. Ratti was victimized by his defense, as all eight runs he allowed were unearned. Berlinsville (10-12) finished the contest with four miscues.

Jim Thorpe grad Noah Snisky had one of his team’s five hits. Conor Howland added a hit, a run and an RBI.
