Barton named to energy committee

Rep. Jamie Barton, R-Berks/Schuylkill, has been named to the state House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee for the remainder of the 2023-24 Legislative Session.

“My entire life I have lived in the anthracite coal region of Schuylkill County and have worked the majority of my career in the energy industry,” Barton said. “I am truly passionate about energy and environmental resources and cannot wait to apply my real-life experiences to this committee. I am grateful to have been appointed by Republican leadership and look forward to serving.”

Barton’s spent 34 years in the energy industry as the vice president of Jack Rich Inc. He also serves on the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association board of directors and is a member of the Anthracite Region Independent Power Producers Association and the Berks/Schuylkill Oil Dealers Association. Barton served on CITGO Petroleum’s Marketer Council from 2016-19.

Barton is also on the following committees: Housing and Community Development, State Government, and Tourism and Economic and Recreational Development.
