Jim Thorpe surged ahead of Southern Lehigh in a Lehigh Valley Connie Mack quarterfinal playoff game before rain stopped play on Wednesday.

Jim Thorpe built a 3-0 lead against Southern Lehigh through five innings of Lehigh Valley Connie Mack playoff baseball before rain suspended play.

Thorpe plated runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings to grab the advantage. Jared Marykwas and Garret Lienhard each drove in a run and collected one hit, while Brandon Fasolino added two hits and scored a run. Ian Hubbard notched a triple and scored a run.

DJ Richenbacher and Spencer Hunsicker also had hits for Jim Thorpe. Richenbacher struck out four and walked just one while scattering six hits across five innings.

The game will continue in the top of the sixth inning tonight at 6 tonight at Southern Lehigh.
