State police holiday enforcement

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop M – Bethlehem announced the official Independence Day Holiday Enforcement period through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.

The safety initiative Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Program targets drivers who drive aggressively.

Troopers are also advising motorists not to park their vehicles anywhere on Interstate 78, including the ramps, shoulder, or center median, during the annual Dorney Park fireworks celebration on Tuesday. Motorists will be cited and could have their vehicle towed.

Troopers remind the public of the updated statute which allows the purchase and use of consumer grade fireworks, or “Class C’” fireworks, however restrictions of Class C fireworks are:

• They cannot be ignited or discharged on a public or private property without express permission of the property owner.

• They cannot be discharged from or directed at a vehicle or building, and cannot be discharged within 150 feet of a building or vehicle.

• They cannot be discharged while the person is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
