State police at Fern Ridge report on crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on the following incidents:
• Evan J. Shapskinsky, 62, of Saylorsburg, escaped serious injuries in a motorcycle crash at 4:03 p.m. June 22 on Cottontail Lane in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he sustained minor bruising and did not require a medical transport.
Police said he was driving a 2001 Harley-Davidson southbound on Route 715 and was making a left turn onto Cottontail Lane when another vehicle approached the intersection, turning northbound. Police said Shapskinsky turned wide and the cycle struck the curb, traveling off the roadway and into the yard of 503 Cottontail Lane. It continued to strike a rock wall, dislodging rocks from it and becoming airborne for about 10 feet until coming to rest in the yard.
• Kevin J. Lambert, 38, of Northampton, sustained suspected serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 9:27 p.m. May 24 on Countryside Drive in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance Service to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg.
Police said he was driving a 2015 Infiniti eastbound when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a left hand curve in the road. The car traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Police said Lambert was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
• Police said a car backed into the rear of another vehicle in the parking lot of the Food Mart, Chestnuthill Township and left the scene.
Police said the striking vehicle is a white Chevrolet sedan that backed into a 2013 Toyota Camry that was legally parked in the lot. Minor damages resulted from the incident that happened at 9:13 a.m. June 22.
• Police said a 2023 Ford Transit struck and killed a deer that had entered its path as it was traveling on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township at 9:10 a.m. June 13.
Police said Jose A. Rossel, 40, of Coal City, Illinois, was driving the vehicle and was uninjured.
The Transit was towed from the scene, police said.
