First United Methodist Church in Tamaqua honored the late Albert “Albie” Coccio with a plaque remembering him for his service.
Coccio, of Tamaqua, served as the church’s sexton for more than 50 years. He passed away on March 16 at the age of 85.
The plaque features Coccio’s photo, the Methodist church symbol, and an inscription.
“In recognition of over 50 years of faithful service as sexton of First United Methodist Church.” It was presented by “a grateful congregation.”
Coccio’s wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Coccio, and their children were on hand for the recent presentation.
Coccio also worked for the borough of Tamaqua, and often did odd jobs around the area. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
